I don’t really remember the last time I heard a big fuss about one of Max Factors products on YouTube unless it was clearly a paid promotion. None of my friends is using it, they’re loyal to other brands. But why? Max Factor is affordable, has an amazing quality, and also a long tradition. Is marketing their problem? Anyway, it’s a shame.
Today I want to show you face products I own from them and I think they are truly really good and worth trying. Let’s get started!
Mastertouch all-day concealer – the first time I tried this was about five years ago and it has been a staple in my drawer ever since. It comes in only three different shades, but I’m lucky enough that two of them are suitable for me, depends on the season we are in. Currently, I own the medium shade 306 FAIR and it is too dark for me, so I’ll be using it during the summer. The concealer comes in once a very stylish and popular twisting pen, with a tiny sponge at the end. It is not super functional, because you always get out more than you need, even when you’re done with twisting…. but it’s manageable once you get used to it. It exploded during my plane trip but’s that’s the story for some other time.
It provides light to medium coverage, blends super easily, and never gets into fine lines. This is a great, thin, and moisturizing formula, in my opinion much better than many expensive options. It doesn’t need to be “locked” with powder, it stays perfect for hours. So if you can overlook occasionally messy packaging, this is a great drugstore concealer.
Facefinity compact foundation – at some point I was just tired of liquid foundations and decided to try something different. This seemed to be a great product for all my needs – it is lightweight, mattifying, long-lasting, and natural-looking powder foundation. If you are on the oily side and want something affordable, then this is for you. It offers light to medium coverage, it is buildable, and doesn’t look cakey. The only combination that is not working for me is wearing this over liquid foundation – it is not compatible.
It decently covers my sun spots if I apply it with a sponge, but if I want just a slight blurring and mattifying effect, then I use my brush. This powder can be very chalky when applying, especially if you are using a brush, so be gentle. But it blends and evens out really good, so there’s no need to worry. The product comes in decent-looking gold plastic packaging with a big mirror and sponge applicator. It is slightly scented, but that is only detectable if you sniff it from the pan.
In our drugstores we have only two shades available, I got mine in 002 IVORY which was the lightest. I think this will be a great option for the summer when my T-zone gets oily again.
Miracle sheer gel blush – I discovered this by the end of last summer, when my face was slightly tanned and I found it super flattering, it gave me that healthy-looking flush. This is cooling stick blush in shade 004 Glowing sunrise which is a quite bright orange-red with s bit of shimmer which is not visible after blending. It may look scary at first glance, but it is quite sheer and applies nicely. You can use your fingers, but I trust my brush more because I find this formula quite sticky. You need to put a bit more effort into blending, but it’s not terrible by any meaning. What is bothering me much more is its strong scent that reminds me of fabric softener. That eventually goes away, but for some time, it is quite present.
Ok, that is all I wanted to say today. If you’re on a hunt for an affordable face product, maybe you should try with good old Max Factor, you will not regret it.
